Do you Really Know When To Replace Mascara?
How do I know when it’s finally time to replace my mascara? I actually don’t! I mean, well I do know now based on reading tons of articles from beauty gurus and experts. I’m no beauty guru myself so this is primarily based on what I read.
Have you been using the same old mascara for months now? If so, it could be time for you to change that old mascara for a new one, once and for all says beauty gurus far and wide. I read that of all beauty products, mascara has one of the shortest shelf lives. Replacing mascara before its life span is up is the best way to prevent bacteria getting into your eyes. The longer you have your mascara past its shelf life the higher the chance of an eye infection. I really can’t believe this because I’ve been using the same mascara for months now! SHHH Don’t tell !
To be honest I really don’t change my mascara quite as often as I should. However, reading about all the bacteria and other stuff that accumulate after a while is scary. I’m definitely going to change up my makeup hygiene regimen asap. While researching I found out four identifying factors which can help you determine when you should replace your mascara.
A dermatologist study done in 2008 on Mascara use found that fungus and bacteria contaminated mascara bottles after about 3 months. Isn’t that just gross! I’ve come to realize that the longer you have your mascara past its shelf life the higher the chance of an eye infection. The following factors are what beauty experts swear will help you determine if it’s truly time to ditch your mascara:
1. If you’ve been using it over 3 months(mascara life span)
2. If your mascara has started to flake
3. If your mascara has dried out
4. If your mascara has started to clump up
