How is that initially you are given the option of a 14 day ‘free’ trial when you sign up to Shopify but half way through the trial it requires a person to submit payment information for a plan? This is the question that crossed my mind today after I stayed up all night working on my Shopify eCommerce store and was so excited to publish the store and give it a test run. The night before I saw stayed up late editing and placing products on my store site with the intention that today I would surely be able to publish the site, only to be greeted with the following message:
So I thought to myself, Okay maybe I just need to just remove the password and everything will be fine, but, ‘Lo and Behold’ i am greeted with the following two messages:
While these messages are being displayed in front of me I am also looking at the fact that my page clearly states I have 11 days left in the “free” trial. Seeing that I am still in the so called free trial why do I need to select a plan and add card details before the end of the trial? I guess this is just another website that gets its first-time free trial persons hooked like Phoenix on the astonishing apps, themes and features it possesses but not giving them an actual chance to test the site itself in its publication stage unless money is forked over.
What do you say, False advertising or Nah? What are your thoughts?
