As I get older I’ve come to realize that the concept, ‘tapering friendships’ is just a reality of life. Can you remember those times when you were a child and life seemed so much simpler? I remember how easy it was to meet a friend on the play ground at school. It would normally be beside the swing set or the monkey bars. We would play tag and laugh and make jokes as If we’ve known each other forever. The thought that we had just met that very same day never crossed our minds.
Then we got older and reality set in that friends that we once had in elementary, primary, prep or high school began to taper. Those friendships become only distant memories. Do you remember when you and your friends texted on the phone all the time after something exciting happened in each of your lives? Or even how you’d be seen at school hanging together all the time? You would be sitting together in class chatting and laughing throughout the whole class.
The reality is that as people get older they become really busy. People have a lot of different things to tend to, whether it’s their new family or their new jobs. That’s just life. If it is however, that you have a friendship that hasn’t tapered you should really cherish it. Good and long lasting friends are hard to find. If your friendship has seen the test of time and has remained strong since the beginning that’s something truly great .
